King Street: The Heart of Old Town
King Street stretches from the waterfront through the heart of Old Town Alexandria. It’s where you’ll find many of the area’s shops, restaurants, cafés, and art galleries, all within easy walking distance of one another.
Whether you’re stopping in to browse a local boutique or looking for a place to eat, King Street is the perfect place to spend an afternoon exploring.
Most of our homes sit just a block or two off King Street, close enough that you can leave the car parked for your whole stay.
The Waterfront
At the foot of King Street, you’ll find Alexandria’s waterfront. It’s a great place to take a break from sightseeing. Grab a coffee, watch the boats come and go, rent a kayak, or hop on the water taxi to National Harbor or Washington, DC.
If you’re visiting later in the day, it’s also a nice spot to catch the sunset before heading out for dinner.
Captain’s Row and the Cobblestones
Just a short walk from the waterfront, Captain’s Row is one of the most photographed streets in Alexandria. The cobblestones and beautifully preserved 18th-century homes once owned by sea captains offer a glimpse into the city’s maritime past.
It’s well worth a walk, especially in the evening after dinner.
Walkable to Everything, Close to DC
One thing guests often comment on is how little they use their car during their stay. Restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and pharmacies are all within walking distance of our properties.
If you’re planning to visit Washington, DC, the King Street Metro makes it easy, with trains reaching the city in about 20 minutes. It’s one of the many reasons Old Town Alexandria makes such a great home base for exploring the area.
